Augmenting English Adjective Senses with Supersenses
نویسندگان
چکیده
We develop a supersense taxonomy for adjectives, based on that of GermaNet, and apply it to English adjectives in WordNet using human annotation and supervised classification. Results show that accuracy for automatic adjective type classification is high, but synsets are considerably more difficult to classify, even for trained human annotators. We release the manually annotated data, the classifier, and the induced supersense labeling of 12,304 WordNet adjective synsets.

A Methodology for Word Sense Disambiguation at 90% based on large-scale CrowdSourcing
Word Sense Disambiguation has been stuck for many years. In this paper we explore the use of large-scale crowdsourcing to cluster senses that are often confused by non-expert annotators. We show that we can increase performance at will: our in-domain experiment involving 45 highly polysemous nouns, verbs and adjective (9.8 senses on average), yields an average accuracy of 92.6 using a supervise...
متن کاملSupersense Tagging for Arabic: the MT-in-the-Middle Attack
We consider the task of tagging Arabic nouns with WordNet supersenses. Three approaches are evaluated. The first uses an expertcrafted but limited-coverage lexicon, Arabic WordNet, and heuristics. The second uses unsupervised sequence modeling. The third and most successful approach uses machine translation to translate the Arabic into English, which is automatically tagged with English superse...
متن کاملA corpus of preposition supersenses in English web reviews
We present the first corpus annotated with preposition supersenses, unlexicalized categories for semantic functions that can be marked by English prepositions (Schneider et al., 2015). That scheme improves upon its predecessors to better facilitate comprehensive manual annotation. Moreover, unlike the previous schemes, the preposition supersenses are organized hierarchically. Our data will be p...
متن کاملDemonstration of Multi Statutory of the Adjective “Just” in Modern Adjectival English Lexicon
This article concerns the general functional features of an adjective in modern English, and in particular multistate lexical item “just”, which carries different meanings in different variants of combinatorics. The authors analyze the combinations used with the adjectival lexeme item “just” and reveal the categories that determine the degree of semantic content of each given statement. The nee...
متن کاملA Corpus and Model Integrating Multiword Expressions and Supersenses
This paper introduces a task of identifying and semantically classifying lexical expressions in running text. We investigate the online reviews genre, adding semantic supersense annotations to a 55,000 word English corpus that was previously annotated for multiword expressions. The noun and verb supersenses apply to full lexical expressions, whether singleor multiword. We then present a sequenc...
